چکیده

Introduction The Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS) is a leading source of up-to-date, representative, and comprehensive data on hemodialysis practice and patient outcomes worldwide. Since its inception, the study’s primary aim has been to identify practices that extend survival and improve health-related quality of life (HR-QOL) for hemodialysis patients. The DOPPS has yielded research findings directly relevant to patients, health care providers, and policy makers. The following provides an overview of the study’s design and analytic approach, selected research findings and relevance to policy, new directions, and ways that the study complements other sources of dialysis data.

The dialysis outcomes and practice patterns study (DOPPS): how can we improve the care of hemodialysis patients?

Outcomes among dialysis patients vary considerably internationally and across regions within the United States. The Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS) is a large, prospective, observational study of representative samples of hemodialysis patients in France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The DOPPS collects a wealth of data regarding t...

Improving outcomes for dialysis patients in the international Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study.

The international Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS) is well suited to evaluate levels of deviation from emerging and established guidelines to clinical practice of hemodialysis, over time and by country. The DOPPS can also evaluate whether the target levels that are chosen in the guidelines are in agreement with outcomes such as elevated risk for mortality, hospitalization, ...

Understanding associations of hemodialysis practices with clinical and patient-reported outcomes: examples from the DOPPS

Due to the scarcity of randomized clinical trials (RCTs) in nephrology [1], particularly in dialysis, there has been uncertainty about optimal practices. Using standardized data collection, the Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS) has shown very large betweenand within-country differences in hemodialysis (HD) practices and patient outcomes. These observational data are especial...

Haemodialysis prescription, adherence and nutritional indicators in five European countries: results from the Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS).

BACKGROUND The Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS) is a prospective, observational study designed to evaluate practice patterns in random samples of haemodialysis facilities and patients across three continents. Participating countries include France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK (Euro-DOPPS), Japan and the USA. DOPPS data collection has used the same questionnaires and pr...

A practice-related risk score (PRS): a DOPPS-derived aggregate quality index for haemodialysis facilities.

BACKGROUND The Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS) database was used to develop and validate a practice-related risk score (PRS) based on modifiable practices to help facilities assess potential areas for improving patient care. METHODS Relative risks (RRs) from a multivariable Cox mortality model, based on observational haemodialysis (HD) patient data from DOPPS I (1996-200...
